This game is set in the Westfjords of Iceland. For more information about where Iceland is, see its Wiki. It is an island country between the Atlantic and Arctic ocean. It is one of the least populated places left on Earth, and has the lowest ratio of people to square kilometers of any European nation. Most of that space is filled with fantastic wilderness, and Light on Ice is set in the least populated of Iceland's accessible land, a peninsula called the Westfjords off the northwestern coast. Unlike the highlands in the center of the country, its proximity to the sea means that it is accessible to humans all year round. However, as there are few inhabitants and no roads or public transportation, most of this area is still pristine wild space. The largest town near the Sept is Ísafjörður, which is, in reality, little more than a sleepy fishing village. It is, however, the largest settlement anywhere near where the game is set, so there are very few urban environments within the scope of the game. There are various other tiny settlements along the coast and amongst the jagged fjords of Westfjords, but all of them are tiny and best reached by boat. Map of the AreaHere also is a fabulous video taken while driving around the coast of the southern Westfjords, to give you an idea what it looks like out there. Its pure tundra in many places, without trees.
